For collectors, this means:

  • For the first time, collectors do not collect the player version of a set. The Shadows & Syndicates Player’s Edition is optimized for gameplay—with lighter card stock and no distracting embellishments. Collectors instead receive a dedicated Collector’s Edition of the same set, with heavier card stock and UV varnish finishing.
  • The collector box lays the foundation for ensuring that no more collectors start a collection than there are completable sets, focusing the hunt on what matters without creating bulk.
  • One collector box per customer guarantees all required Class 1-3 cards, still contains boosters, preserves the thrill of hunting Class 4 ★★★★ cards, additionally offers true one-of-one cards, and includes 36 bonus cards (bijou cards) that are not part of the main set.
  • Card values, if any, are not influenced by meta, reprints, or set rotations. Shadows & Syndicates explicitly does not position itself as an investment object, but is aimed at collectors who appreciate the Shadows & Syndicates universe and wish to collect aesthetically designed cards. Excluded from this are true one-of-one cards, whose value does not arise from the system but from their uniqueness.
  • There are no foil cards in the main set. For collectors, there are complete foil versions of the respective sets.
What does the collector box contain? The Collector’s Edition is a collector box released one month after the launch of a set. It contains all Class 1-3 cards of the respective set—complete and without unnecessary duplicates. Instead of generating bulk, you get your Class 1 cards as a completely shrink-wrapped pack with S&S. The Class 2 and Class 3 cards come from the first slot of special 2-slot boosters. There are Class 2 and Class 3 boosters, the quantity of which corresponds exactly to the number of Class 2 and Class 3 cards contained in the set. The second slot provides the thrill of the hunt: Class 2 boosters can yield the Class 4 ★★★★ cards included in the set. Class 3 boosters offer a chance at a true one-of-one foil. If none of these cards are pulled, the second slot instead contains a high-quality bijou card. This is a closed collecting system, as only complete sets are brought into circulation: 100 collector boxes correspond to 100 complete sets 200 collector boxes correspond to 200 complete sets, etc. The true one-of-one foils are evenly distributed across the limited total print run. With higher print runs, the number of these unique cards increases accordingly. This creates a complete, bulk-free collecting system with the appeal of true uniques. Collectors retain control over their collecting progress and can complete missing Class 4 ★★★★ cards through targeted trading. Reprints are strictly off-limits.
